New Pro-Family Movie: Moms’ Night Out – May 9th
From the makers of pro-life hit “October Baby,” comes a pro-family movie that I have only heard good things about from so many sources. It has a star-studded cast of Sarah Drew, Sean Astin, Trace Adkins, and Patricia Heaton and looks amazing! I laughed out loud even just watching the trailer. For anyone who is in the middle of family life with small children or remembers was that was like, I believe you will enjoy this movie. It comes out in theaters on Mother’s Day weekend – check it out!
See the trailer HERE.
Ruth Harbor Walk for Life – May 10th
Ruth Harbor is a home located in Des Moines that provides a safe place where young women who are facing unplanned pregnancies can stay and find the support they need. The Ruth Harbor Walk for Life is a walk where you can show support and fundraise for the home and for the young women and their babies who stay there. On Saturday, May 10th, at 9:30 am, people will meet at Ruth Harbor to walk 2 miles together (this is not a race though). Their address is 534 42nd Street, Des Moines, IA 50312.

Friends of GiGi’s Playhouse Golf Outing – May 17th
GiGi’s Playhouse (I believe it's pronounced jee-jee's playhouse) is a wonderful organization that “provides free programs that are educational and therapeutic in nature to individuals with Down syndrome from birth through adulthood, their families and the community.” I see this as a definite pro-life issue because we need to be supporting and valuing people who have Down’s Syndrome (they are such amazing people)!
The GiGi’s Playhouse in Urbandale will have a golf fundraiser on Saturday, May 17th, from 8 am – 3 pm at the Copper Creek Golf Course in Pleasant Hill. There will be a 8:00 am shotgun start, a raffle, prizes, a silent auction, and more. The proceeds will go to GiGi’s Playhouse in town.

Project Rachel in Des Moines – Coordinator Needed
Bishop Pates is hoping to kick-off this program in the Des Moines Diocese soon. Project Rachel is on-going post-abortion support and healing that involves specially trained counselors, priests, and deacons (this differs from Rachel's Vineyard, which operates in a retreat setting). Three people have volunteered to help, but a main coordinator is still needed. A training opportunity for this position will take place in Davenport in July. For more information or to help, please contact Ken Bresnan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Americans United for Life – Short Video
AUL would like you to watch and share this 2-minute video with your family and friends so that they understand why we are against the mandated coverage of abortion-causing drugs in the Healthcare Act. The video is helpful.
See the video and sign their petition HERE.
“All life has inestimable value
even the weakest and most vulnerable –
the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor –
are masterpieces of God’s creation,
made in His own image,
destined to live forever,
and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.”
- Pope Francis
“The greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion, which is war against the child. The mother doesn't learn to love, but kills to solve her own problems. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want."
- Mother Teresa
I hope this was helpful!
